For our guided inquiry, my group and I explored the benefits of mindfulness apps such as Calm, Headspace, etc. in the classroom. I think my big take away from both of these inquiries is that mindfulness is a personal practice and its value is independently determined. However, I do think incorporating a routine of mindfulness could be a great classroom management tool for creating silence, helping to determine people’s moods, and for helping to address anxiety.

Apps are primarily a great tool for teachers to learn more about mindfulness for personal practice, but they also have great resources for quick and easy implementation into the classroom. I personally see the value of apps more so for the class than for personal meditation, as when I am trying to be mindful myself I prefer to take time away from technology.
